One record of the event, in which Padam Singh took part, has been preserved. In 1787 the king of S─лkar, the R─Бo R─Бj─Б Dev─л Siс╣Еgh, was annoyed by constant attacks and plunder by P┼лranmall Siс╣Еgh of K─Бsl─л and, consequently, the king annexed five villages that belonged to the K─Бsl─л jurisdiction. Padam Siс╣Еgh had been appointed to be in charge of this territory. This was the reason for P┼лranmall to begin battle with the с╣нh─Бkur of Baс╣нhoс╣нh. During the fight with swords and spears, wounded Padam Siс╣Еgh was encircled by P┼лranmall and his men and shot from a rifle. As a result, the R─Бo R─Бj─Б Dev─л Siс╣Еgh marched with his army to K─Бsl─л and the whole region became subdued to S─лkar. P┼лranmall had to escape and take refuge in M─Бrv─Бс╣Ы. The fight and the death of Padam Siс╣Еgh has been commemorated in the following poem by an anonymous poet, which presents a typical R─Бjp┼лt projection that a warrior can receive salvation mainly by his death in a battlefield:

With the order of [the king] Dev─л [Siс╣Еgh, he] took a bare, double-edged sword [and] began revolt for the land,

Strong and fearsome Padam Siс╣Еgh does not take a step back.

The successor [of the с╣нh─Бkur of K─Бsl─л], the most eminent son of Haс╣нh─л Siс╣Еgh – [P┼лranmall] Siс╣Еgh
has come [and] created the rain [of arrows],

[While] Padam, the son of K─лrti [Siс╣Еgh], appeared in the form of [the archer] Arjuna.

Both of them – recruits in powerful armies,

[These two] warriors-victorious lions, appeared face to face.

The grandson of R─Бm Siс╣Еgh [i.e. P┼лranmall Siс╣Еgh] says – you, the grandson of ┼Ъiv [i.e. Padam Siс╣Еgh],  attack [with your spear],

┼Ъiv’s grandson replies – you, the grandson of R─Бm Siс╣Еgh, assault [the first].

Brave [and] never surrendering like furious lions,

Both warriors, with ablaze hearts, began to attack for the sake of the land.

P┼лranmall started an assault [and] endured the strike of the Lord Padam’s sword,

The Lord Padam attacked [and] held on the strike of P┼лranmall’s brand.

[R─Бjp┼лt dynasties of] R─Бс╣нhauс╣Ыs, Sisodiy─Б [and all] people state happily,

[That Padam Siс╣Еgh is] the best of all brilliant, glorious thirty six branches [of the R─Бjp┼лt clans].

That one [who] wins fierce battles has come to your territory,

The body of grandson [of ┼Ъiv Siс╣Еgh] was extensively wounded [and] during [the fight he received] salvation.
